Born from Crisis, Built for Community
When Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, families were separated. Phone lines went down. Power was out for days. People couldn't reach their loved ones, and the uncertainty was unbearable.
In those desperate hours, we saw neighbors helping neighbors, communities coming together, strangers checking on strangers. But the information was scattered across Facebook posts, WhatsApp groups, and word of mouth. We needed something better.
That's why we built Syxel SOS — a dedicated public safety tool for emergencies. It gives families one dependable place to request help, and it enables communities to respond with timely, verified information.
What Makes Us Different
Verified Users Only
Everyone who posts or replies must verify their email. No anonymous trolls, no spam. Just real people trying to help.
Parish-Focused
Filter by St. Elizabeth, St. James, Hanover, St. Thomas, Negril, or Westmoreland. Local people know their communities best.
Community Moderated
Our team reviews reports quickly to keep the platform safe and focused on what matters: helping families reconnect.
How It Works
Create an SOS Post
Verify your email, select your parish, describe who you're looking for, and add a photo if you have one.
Community Responds
People in your area who have information can reply with tips, sightings, or updates.
Mark as Resolved
Once you've found your loved one, mark the post as resolved so others know the search is over.
Our Commitment to You
We're not here to make money off your crisis. We're here because we've been there too. We know what it's like to not know if someone you love is safe.
This platform will always be free. We'll never sell your data. We'll never show you ads when you're searching for your family. We're building this for Jamaica, by Jamaicans who care.
